"We wear the mask is a work exploring the translation of sound into textiles. This time, inspired by a sonogram, I created a code to be able to weave the voice of Maya Angelou reciting the poem The Mask. Following the example of Rosa Parks' laughter, Maya Angelou defines laughter as a survival apparatus. She describes the interactions of black and white communities in the 1970s by explaining that when you are in a position where it is difficult, if not impossible, to express yourself without paying the consequences, laughter becomes a kind of statement."
