Muriel Jaouich's pictorial work is intuitively based on the creative process. It expresses the differentiated memory persistence and subject to the temporality, which sees the witnesses disappear. This founding theme is guided by the impact of intergenerational trauma. A child of the diaspora, born far from her homeland, she is often plagued by nostalgia or melancholy, which resurfaces in her work, symbolizing an attachment that remains unresolved. Melancholy has the capacity to give us a new perception when looking at something lost. In dialogue with the past, these specters are represented by ghostly figures, fragmented bodies and grotesque shapes brought to life by vigorous brushstrokes and wild colors.
